LDV’s Electric eT60 Pickup And eDeliver 9 Van Launch Targeting Commercial Sales Down Under

LDV has rolled out two exciting new electric vehicles for the Australian market and aimed at commercial users. The first, dubbed the eT60, is an all-electric pickup truck while the second is the eDeliver 9, an electric version of the country’s best-selling large van.

Starting with the eT60, it is aimed at large corporations, government, and fleet businesses wanting to reduce their emissions. The combustion-powered T60 has sold 23,947 units in Australia since its launch in September 2017.

Driving the LDV eT60 is an 88.55 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that takes 9 hours to charge through an 11 kW charger or 45 minutes to charge from 20 per cent to 80 per cent through a DC fast charger. It is good for a WLTP combined range of 330 km (205 miles) and sports a permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering 174 hp (130 kW) and 310 Nm (229 lb-ft) of torque to the rear wheels. A regenerative braking system is also featured.

LDV says that the eT60 tips the scales at 2,300 kg (5,070 lbs) and has a maximum braked towing capacity of 1,000 kg (2,200 lbs). It also has a payload of up to 1,000 kg (2,200 lbs) and comes standard with a spray-in bed liner. The automaker has also equipped it with the same heavy-duty suspension as the ICE-powered T60 Pro complete with double wishbone independent suspension at the front and leaf springs at the rear.

Important safety features that come standard on the eT60 include front, side and curtain airbags, a reversing camera, electronic stability control with emergency braking assist, hill start assist, roll movement intervention, and hill descent control.

Local pricing for the eT60 kicks off at AU$92,990 ($61,518). It comes with a 5 year/160,000 km warranty and an 8 year/160,000 km battery warranty.

Then there’s the LDV eDeliver 9. It has the same 88.55 kWh battery pack as the eT60 in Mid Roof and High Roof guises while the Cab Chassis variant has a smaller 65 kWh pack. The Mid Roof is good for 280 km (174 miles) on a charge, the High Roof can travel 275 km (171 miles) on a charge, and the Cab Chassis has a WLTP range of 150 km (93 miles). All variants sport an electric motor at the front wheels with 201 hp (150 kW) and 310 Nm (229 lb-ft).

LDV notes that the eDeliver 9 has the same cubic capacity as its ICE siblings while payload for the Mid Roof sits at 1,410 kg (3,108 lbs) and 1,350 kg (2,976 lbs) in the High Roof. The braked towing capacity of all models is limited to 1,500 kg (3,306 lbs).

“From an operational perspective, the eDeliver 9 demands little, if any, compromise from the fleet operator,” LDV general manager Dinesh Chinnappa said of the van. “The location of the battery under the floor has ensured zero impact on the cargo space. There has been no reduction in cubic capacity or disruption to the flat floor space, so our launch range is optimized for urban logistics with no compromise on capabilities.”

Aussie prices kick off from AU$99,990 ($66,148) for the Cab Chassis and increase to AU$116,537 ($77,119) for the Mid Roof and AU$118,836 ($78,616) for the High Roof.
