Hansal Mehta opens up on virtual hate against Bollywood, says that it is a ‘transitory’ phase | Hindi Movie News

The Boycott Bollywood trend has been troubling the industry since early this year. Popular actors like Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar have come under its radar, leading to poor performances of some or all of their movies at the BO. Director Hansal Mehta, who has been in the industry for more than two decades recently opened up on the trend, calling it ‘disturbing’.

The 54-year-old, who is known for movies like Aligarh, Shahid, City Lights and others, in a recent interview to indianexpress.com said that it is extremely disheartening to read the stuff that is written about Bollywood on social media. Adding that some of this is ‘endorsed’ by insiders and own colleagues, the veteran filmmaker says that it is mostly manafactured news, with little to no inkling of reality.

However, there is still a ray of hope, added Mehta. Calling this a ‘transitory’ phase for Bollywood, the “Omerta” director added that Bollywood will soon come out of it. Calling the industry ‘resilient’, the filmmaker said that the fear and madness will soon dwindle, but the important thing for makers is to not lose focus and give in their best to their projects.

Hansal Mehta has recently wrapped up shooting with Kareena Kapoor Khan for his next untitled project. The movie, which was being shot extensively in London, will see Kareena don the role of a detective and mother, as per reports.
