Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime upset Spain’s Rafael Nadal 6-3, 6-4 on Tuesday at the ATP Finals in Turin, Italy.

The win improved Auger-Aliassime’s record to 1-1 in the Green Group after the Montreal native lost his opener to Norway’s Casper Ruud.

Auger-Aliassime saved all five break points he raced against Nadal.

Auger-Aliassime is the first Canadian to reach the eight-man Finals since Milos Raonic in 2016.

The 22-year-old won three consecutive ATP singles titles in October, with victories at the Firenze Open, Antwerp Open, and Swiss Indoors Basel.

American Taylor Fritz (1-0) faces Ruud (1-0) in the other Green Group match later Tuesday.

Auger-Aliassime wraps up round-robin play on Thursday against Fritz.

The top two players from the Green Group advance to the semifinals.
