‘Desperation isn’t a negative trait’: Owner of new Desperate Dating site, which vows to help long-term singletons find love, says people need to stop ‘playing it cool’ if they want romance
A new website launching on Valentine’s Day is specifically targeting long-term singletons who are ‘desperate’ to meet someone.
Desperate Dating is the brainchild of niche dating entrepreneur David Minns, whose previous creations having included platforms for daters with small penises, age gap daters and gaming fans.
says he wanted to create a site where people who aren’t chastised for being ‘seriously keen’.
Around 3,000 people have already signed up to the site, which lets users add up to nine pictures of themselves in their ‘desperate’ bio.
Minns told MailOnline that Valentine’s Day was ‘the perfect launch date’, saying Desperate Datingf ‘provides a stark alternative to the mainstream sites and apps that singles regularly join or even re-join this time of year.

‘It also provides something different for the singles who despise reading about love and relationships in February.
‘The site says it’s aiming to tip on its head ‘ridiculous’ traditional dating advice including tactics for playing it cool, including: ‘Don’t text too much’, ‘Play mean to keep them keen’, ‘Pretend to be busy’ and ‘Don’t commit too soon’.
Encouraging new users to sign up, the brand’s website reads: ‘Desperate times call for desperate measures. You need Desperate Dating!’

Minns has made a name for himself as a ‘niche’ dating site creator, with previous platforms including Dinky One (small penis dating), 20 (extreme age gap dating) and Joystick (gamer dating).

When Dinky One launched in March 2020, it attracted around 33,000 members (pun intended) within two days, with a fifth of men joining identifying as gay or bisexual – although it’s open to all genders and sexualities.
The only pre-requisite for men who sign up is that they have a below average appendage – that’s under 5.5 inches (14cm) globally when erect.
While the site aims to make men more comfortable and tackle the stigma around the issue, it’s also geared towards women who prefer a smaller penis.
Minns said at the time: ‘There’s pressure on all genders to confirm to ideals set by TV, film and even porn. The adult entertainment industry only casts males with well over average sized penises.

‘In addition, adverts on major porn sites advertise dubious products to increase penis size. All of this makes a man already insecure about his size even more self conscious.
‘Some men are big, some average and some below average. Dinky One lets smaller men date people outside their circle of friends with the safety that everyone using the site is fully aware. Members can focus on shared interests and get on with dating.’
