A producer who worked for ‘Larry King Live’ for more than 1,300 episodes has claimed that he saw Larry King’s wife, Shawn King, abuse and isolate him, as well as trap him in the back of their $17 million Beverly Hills mansion.
Greg Christensen claims Shawn – who is currently suing him and others alleging she was cheated out of million from her husband’s estate – had isolated the late TV icon from his family prior to his death.
According to court papers, the producer at one point was asked by King to help move him out of his home in order to escape his wife’s control.
‘At Larry King’s direction, Christensen paid for a hotel room for Larry King to escape Shawn King and then Christensen located an apartment and purchased furnishings for the apartment with Christensen’s own money,’ the producer’s lawyers said.
‘This allowed Larry King to escape Shawn King’s abuse and was essential to Larry King being able to file for divorce.’
The couple split in 2019, and King filed for divorce from Shawn, 63, after 22 years of marriage. They were estranged, but not yet divorced, when he died of sepsis at age 87 in January 2021.

King left a hand-written will, advising an even-split of his $2 million fortune between his five children. It was allegedly written two months after he filed for divorce from Shawn – his seventh wife – who was completely left out of the note. She later reached a confidential settlement and challenging the will.
But Shawn is currently suing Christensen, Larry King Jr., and Blouin & Co. in Los Angeles for $100 million over claims of professional negligence and fraud.
She claims Blouin & Co. worked with King Jr. to transfer millions illegally to people and entities without her permission.
Shawn says she believes that Blouin managed secret bank accounts for King Jr.
Christensen is one of several people named in the suit, along with Becky Radant, King’s former assistant.
Shawn alleges Radant helped to keep financial information away from her.
Radant reportedly received $50,000 for her help while the longtime producer received $40,000.
Shawn alleges the King associates used the money to buy designer clothes, jewelry, and furniture.
In response to being named in the suit, Christensen’s lawyers filed a motion to dismiss him as a defendant under the state’s anti-Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation (SLAPP) laws.

According to the ACLU of Ohio, SLAPP lawsuits are ‘a civil complaint or counterclaim filed against people or organizations who speak out on issues of public interest or concern.’
In their response to Shawn’s suit, Christensen’s lawyers stated the payments were from Larry King himself and that they were to reimburse Christensen for money he had spent to help pull the TV host from his situation.
Christensen submitted a sworn declaration stating he saw Shawn mistreat her husband in numerous ways after he returned to their $17 million Beverly Hills mansion after being treated in hospital for a stroke.
‘Shawn King prohibited Larry King from living or sleeping in the main home and forced him to live and sleep only in the backhouse, which was located behind their home which Larry King had purchased,’ Christensen says.
‘Shawn King also deprived Larry King of his wallet and sometimes his phone for extended periods of time, keeping him trapped in the back house,’ he continues.
Christensen said Shawn had also limited her husband’s resources.
The producer alleges that due to his confinement, King often would have to go without certain care or wait for it to be brought in the future because.
He directly states the wife also prevented people and limited his visitors after his hospital stay, even after he asked for friends.

Larry King allegedly told Christensen he had been asking for him to come and visit, according to the producer.
‘Shawn King made false statements to me, like telling me that for medical reasons Larry King was not allowed to have visitors, (but) that same day I spoke to the caregivers in the back house who informed me that Larry King was feeling fine and that visitors would actually help his recovery,’ Christensen said.
‘I also observed Larry King on that same day and saw with my own eyes that Larry King was fine and was able to have visitors,’ he said.
The ‘Larry King Live’ producer also claims he had conversations with others who had the ‘same experience’ he did.
Christensen alleges in addition to the mistreatment and abuse, Shawn used the home’s surveillance and intercom system to monitor King at all times and listen in on conversations with visitors.
A hearing is set for May 30 to address Christensen’s anti-SLAPP motion.
